The Story
Garrett Smith of Hammers Inc. Photography is a meticulous visionary and an intense participant in the world around him. His devotion to his art is matched only by his devotion to discovery and adventure, and the two often harmoniously come together.
His love for the mountains is apparent in his work and his actions, donating dollars and time to local land trusts and access organizations. He has traveled around the globe, peering through the obscuring haze of cultural diversity and conflict to find genuine beauty that exists beyond preconceptions, capturing life as it’s occurring. Having traveled and documented all over North America, Central America, Spain, Morocco, and Israel, he still calls Salt Lake City, Utah home. “I am so inspired by what I find in my own backyard. I have traveled searching for beauty—and I have found many special places all around the globe—but every time I come home I am reminded that beauty is found where you are.”
His driven and individualistic nature lead him off the beaten path, to wanderings that foster creativity and insight. His drive for excellence pushes him outside of the box, while welding his vision with that of many local and international clients to create effective articles and ad campaigns.
As the founder and President of Hammers Inc. Photography, Garrett also places great importance on the art community; having hosted an art festival over the last three years that has given many amateur and professional artists an outlet for exposure while raising funds for local charities. Additionally he has installed many local exhibitions within the Salt Lake Art community.
